Rocks

Fourth Class: Rocks

We in fourth class began an investigation on Rocks. We began our study of rocks by learning about the 3 types of rock, igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. Teacher then gave us samples of different rocks found in Ireland, limestone, mudstone, sandstone, granite, basalt and schitz. When teacher read out a description of the rock, we had to hold up the rock that matched the description.

We went on a walk around the school to find some rocks in the local area. We then brought them into the classroom and cleaned them to get a better look!

We used the samples teacher had to try to identify the type of rock and name it. We then wrote about the rocks we found!
